2 reasons to succeed

jg-fit-blog-20 At JG Fit, we have coached clients since 2015, from busy corporate professionals navigating long days in the CBD to retirees looking to stay active. We notice a distinct pattern: those who lose weight and, more importantly, keep it off, aren't just relying on willpower. They have a clear 'why.' If you are struggling to maintain your momentum, it is rarely a lack of information. It is usually a lack of a compelling reason to keep going when the initial motivation fades. Here are two core drivers that separate those who succeed from those who stay stuck.

  1. Identify Your Anchor: Who Are You Doing This For? Motivation based on aesthetics alone often plateaus. When you are tired after a late meeting or tempted by a heavy zi char dinner, 'looking good' might not be enough to get you to the gym. We encourage clients to tap into a deeper emotional drive. Whether it is being fit enough to run around with your children, or ensuring you are healthy enough to enjoy your retirement, identify who you are doing this for. When you view your health as a way to show up for the people you love, your personal training sessions become an act of care rather than a chore.

  2. Define Your Specific End Goal Ambiguity is the enemy of progress. Saying 'I want to lose some weight' is a wish; it is not a plan. To see real change, you need measurable objectives. If you don't know exactly what you are aiming for, you are just going through the motions. Your goals should be:

Specific: Instead of 'get fit,' try 'reduce my waistline by 5cm' or 'improve my 2km walk time.'

Measurable: Use data points like body composition scans, blood pressure readings, or simply how your clothes fit.
