Nutrition Tips for You

JG Fit Singapore · 01 Sep 2026

Nutrition often feels complicated, especially when you are balancing long hours in the office or managing a busy family schedule in Singapore. At JG Fit, we focus on principles that actually work for your lifestyle. Whether you are training at our Clarke Quay studio or working on your fitness independently, nutrition is the foundation of your progress. Here is how to simplify your intake without the stress.

Prioritize Micronutrients Don't get bogged down by calorie counting alone. Focus on the micronutrient value of your food, the vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that your body needs to function optimally. These are abundant in whole, natural foods like leafy greens, lean meats, and colourful vegetables. Not only do these nutrients support your energy levels, but they are also naturally satiating, which prevents mid-afternoon snacking. If you need help tailoring your daily intake to your specific training goals, check out our personal training options.

Think Protein First Protein is the most important macronutrient for your body composition. It keeps you fuller for longer, which is essential if you find yourself sitting at a desk all day. Furthermore, adequate protein intake is crucial for maintaining muscle mass. Because muscle tissue is metabolically active, having more lean mass helps increase your basal metabolic rate, allowing you to burn more calories even at rest. Aim for a serving of protein, like chicken breast, tofu, fish, or eggs, at every meal.

Manage Cravings, Don't Suppress Them We often mistake a momentary craving for a full-blown meal. If you have a craving for a specific treat, it is perfectly fine to have a small portion and move on. The guilt associated with eating is often more damaging to your consistency than the food itself. The goal is to build a long-term habit of moderation. By allowing yourself to enjoy your favourite foods occasionally, you prevent the 'all-or-nothing' cycle that often leads to overeating.

Timing Your Carbohydrates People often ask when they should eat carbohydrates. While total daily intake is the priority, timing your carbs around your activity levels can be beneficial. For most of our clients, the best time to consume carbohydrates is after a workout. This is when your muscles are primed to absorb glucose, which aids in recovery and glycogen replenishment. If you are training regularly, pairing your post-workout meal with complex carbs like brown rice or sweet potato can help you recover faster.
